COVID-19 Vaccine BOOSTER info

All patients are eligible for booster doses based on appropriate Timeline

Who is eligible to receive a Booster?

  • Individuals ages 12+ (Pfizer only and 5 months post the second dose ) or ages 18+ for Moderna

Occupations at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission include front line essential workers and health care workers as previously detailed by the CDC 

  • First responders (healthcare workers, firefighters, police, congregate care staff)
  • Education staff (teachers, support staff, daycare workers)
  • Food and agriculture workers
  • Manufacturing workers
  • Corrections workers
  • U.S. Postal Service workers
  • Public transit workers
  • Grocery store workers

Pfizer:
Booster Dose: The booster dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine is 0.3 mL. A single Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine booster dose (0.3 mL) may be administered intramuscularly at least 5 months after completing a primary series of the Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine to individuals age 12 years and older and 5 months post the second dose.

Moderna:

Booster Dose: The booster dose of the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine is 0.25 mL. A single Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine booster dose (0.25 mL) may be administered intramuscularly at least 5 months after completing a primary series of the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine to individuals age 18 years and older.

Janssen (J&J):

A single booster dose to individuals 18 years of age and older who have completed a primary vaccination with Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine. The second dose/booster dose should be given at least 2 months after completion of the primary dose.

Who is eligible to receive a second booster dose for COVID-19?

A: A second booster dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine or Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine may be administered to individuals 50 years of age and older at least 4 months after receipt of a first booster dose of any authorized or approved COVID-19 vaccine.

A second booster dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine may be administered to individuals 12 years of age and older with certain kinds of immunocompromise at least 4 months after receipt of a first booster dose of any authorized or approved COVID-19 vaccine. These are people who have undergone solid organ transplantation, or who are living with conditions that are considered to have an equivalent level of immunocompromise.

A second booster dose of the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine may be administered at least 4 months after the first booster dose of any authorized or approved COVID-19 vaccine to individuals 18 years of age and older with the same certain kinds of immunocompromise.

Can I receive the influenza vaccine (flu shot) and a Covid vaccine at the same time?

Yes, both are considered inactive vaccines and can be given at the same time. Most patients tolerate both doses really well together.

What is the minimum age to receive a vaccine?

Anyone 5+ is elgible to recieve a Pfizer vaccine from My Pharmacy and Optical.
